Ranging from capable to track-focused, drivers have a variety of performance options available to them on both the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. Comparing base trim levels, the Range Rover has the advantage with its 395 horsepower and 407 lb-ft of torque from its standard MHEV i6 powertrain. The Range Rover Sport is nearly as powerful thanks to a total of 355 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque from its similar MHEV i6 engine. While very similar in terms of performance, choosing the Range Rover Sport will get you more nimble response thanks to its power advantage and lower curb weight.

If you want an electrified SUV, both the Range Rover and the Range Rover Sport offer the same plug-in hybrid drivetrain, the P550e. This setup obviously gives both vehicles a hefty dose of efficiency, but it’s also seriously powerful, turning out 542 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque. That’s enough to get the Range Rover to 60 mph in just 4.8 seconds, and the Range Rover Sport in 4.7 seconds. There are V8 options for both vehicles as well. In the Range Rover, you can get the P530, a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 that produces 523 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. But for the ultimate in performance, you want one of the SV variants. These use the same 4.4-liter V8, but tuned for more power. In the Range Rover SV, this means 606 horsepower and a 0-60 time of 4.3 seconds. For the Range Rover Sport SV, it means 626 horsepower and a 0-60 time of 3.6 seconds, making it the quickest and most powerful vehicle in the Range Rover lineup.
