2025 Range Rover Evoque vs. the Competition

When the Range Rover Evoque was first introduced, it caused a stir among compact luxury SUVs. Never before had the industry seen a model in this class capable of delivering seductive good looks combined with impeccable refinement and cutting-edge technology. Ever since, the competition has been scrambling to try and catch up with Land Rover. To prove how the Evoque continues to set the benchmark for its segment, our team at Land Rover Easton has created this in-depth model comparison against two of its top rivals – the Audi Q3 and BMW X3. Curious about which of these three models will take home the victory? Let’s find out!

First up to challenge the Range Rover Evoque is the Audi Q3. Although the Audi begins with a slight price advantage, a closer look reveals that choosing the Q3 over the Evoque will be the worse financial decision. Under the hood, the Range Rover Evoque packs quite a punch with 246 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque as standard. On the other hand, the Q3 lags behind in both horsepower and torque. Thanks to more power and a more advanced 9-speed automatic transmission, the Range Rover Evoque handily defeats the Audi Q3 in both top speed ratings and 0-60 times. A larger fuel tank also comes in handy on extended road trips. If performance is a trait you crave, the Range Rover Evoque is clearly the better choice.

Shifting our attention to the interiors of both models, the Evoque continues to shine. Its standard Pivi Pro infotainment system includes intelligent navigation with Real Time Traffic Information, helping you stay one step ahead of traffic jams. Similarly, traffic sign recognition capabilities help you stay informed and aware of posted speed limits. Finally, a standard wireless smartphone charger eliminates clutter from cables and wires inside the Evoque. All three of these great features are not offered on the Audi Q3 or require you to select expensive option packages. Last but certainly not least, the Range Rover Evoque offers greater cargo space than the Audi Q3.

Our next matchup is with the BMW X3. This is an especially useful comparison, because the X3 and Range Rover Evoque are nearly identical in terms of price, size, horsepower, and fuel economy. So we’re going to focus on what you get for the money. To start with, the Evoque comes with a 9-speed transmission, compared to the 8-speed in the X3. That makes it easier for the transmission to find a comfortable gear at any speed, and that means a more relaxed drive for you. You get better handling in the Evoque, in a variety of situations. At low speeds, the tighter turning circle on the Evoque presents an advantage, while the speed-sensitive steering is there to help you the rest of the time. And the torque vectoring that comes standard in the Evoque helps the all-wheel drive system better distribute power where it’s best utilized.
BMW is notorious for offering very little in the way of standard equipment, which is certainly not a problem you’ll have with anything wearing a Range Rover badge. This starts with the upholstery, which is genuine leather in the Evoque, but an imitation in the X3. Leather upholstery is available in the X3, but it’s a $1,500 option, more than wiping out the BMW’s small price advantage. The stereo system in the Evoque is made by Meridian, and will satisfy audiophiles much better than the generic system found in the X3. The natural light that fills the cabin in the Evoque is thanks to the panoramic sunroof, which comes standard. You can have this same equipment on the X3, but it’ll cost extra. The BMW has some good safety features, but they offer no advantage over the Evoque, and in fact, features like Lane Keeping Assist that are standard on the Evoque will again cost extra on the X3. That’s also true of adaptive cruise control, another way the Evoque helps you enjoy a relaxing drive. In all, the BMW isn’t quite the vehicle the Evoque is, even after you pay quite a bit extra.

Winner – Range Rover Evoque
No matter which way you look at it, the Range Rover Evoque is the superior choice as compared to both the Audi Q3 and BMW X3. Both Audi and BMW are simply unable to contend with the exceptional performance capabilities, premium standard features, cutting-edge technology, and outstanding value found across the entire Evoque model range.
