The Land Rover Defender – Tested & Proven

To ensure that the all-new Land Rover Defender lives up to its legendary reputation, it’s been tested under the most extreme conditions. 122°F desert heat, -40°F Arctic cold, 10,000-ft.-plus Rocky Mountain altitudes, and even traversing three-quarters of a million miles of demanding terrain are only a few examples of the rigorous development that the all-new Defender has undergone. Its bold exterior and all-new interior help enhance the broader appeal of the Defender. The latest suite of driver assistance and connectivity features help provide a more rewarding drive experience as well.

“There are a handful of automobiles that are beloved around the world and stand for a brand, a country and a distinct way of life. The Land Rover Defender is such a singular vehicle. On behalf of everyone at Land Rover and our proud retailers, the voices of American and Canadian customers have been heard: The all-new Defender will be for sale here starting in 2020.” — Kim McCullough, Vice President of Marketing for Jaguar Land Rover North America

Land Rover Defender Capability

Proven Performance & Capability

Drivers will be able to choose between a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, badged P300, and a six-cylinder Mild-Hybrid Electric Vehicle (MHEV) powertrain, badged P400. P300 variants use an advanced twin-scroll turbocharged for balanced power delivery and a 0-60 time of 7.7 seconds. The P400 MHEV powertrain harvests energy normally lost during deceleration and redeploys it to optimize performance. Both come paired to a smooth and responsive eight-speed ZF® automatic transmission and twin-speed transfer box. A maximum towing capacity of 8,201 pounds and available Advanced Tow Assist helps highlight the tremendous capability of the Defender 110. Configurable Terrain Response® makes its debut in the Defender 110 (standard on X derivatives and optional on others), allowing drivers to fine-tune the setup of the vehicle to suit the conditions. A fully-independent suspension, twin-speed transfer box, and permanent four-wheel drive ensure no obstacle will stand in your way.

Rugged Exterior

True to its heritage, the Land Rover Defender 110 is offered with a wide variety of expressive exterior accents to reflect a personality as unique as your own. Body color options include three metallic shades unique to the Defender with Tasman Blue, Pangea Green and Gondwana Stone joining Fuji White, Eiger Grey, Santorini Black and Indus Silver in the exterior color palette. A total of 12 wheel designs are available ranging from 18-inch white-painted pressed steel wheels to bold 22-inch Luna alloy wheels. It’s also the first Land Rover vehicle available with an optional factory-fitted Satin Protective Film which delivers enhanced design and durability. On the Defender 110 X models, a gloss black inset contrast hood is standard along with Gloss Black claddings for a more rugged appearance. Choose from four Accessory Packs for a look that’s customized to your preferences.

Range Rover Technology

Intuitive Technology

A practical layout and ergonomic design combine to create an interior that helps even the most inhospitable terrain feel more comfortable. The Defender 110 can be specified with five, six or 5+2 seating. You’ll have your choice of three upholstery options including Resolve textile, Grained Leather, and a durable Robust Woven Textile featuring higher Decitex fibers. The rugged constructivist theme is consistent throughout the interior with visible features that retain structural door casings while partially exposing the painted doors, paying tribute to Defender models of the past. The standard infotainment system featuring an intuitive interface with Software-Over-The-Air updates lets you enjoy your favorite multimedia via a standard 10-inch touchscreen with standard Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility.
